The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea commissioned KLA to produce designs for Athlone Gardens with the active involvement of the community.
Situated in North Kensington at the northern end of Portobello Road, the Wornington Green area is in the process of comprehensive regeneration for housing. To enable efficient development, around half of the footprint of the public park known as Athlone Gardens has been taken out of use. The new development will consist of apartment blocks with a mix of social, affordable and executive housing.
The project design team worked with local residents to make an active frontage to Portobello Road with a green and undulating landscape behind which encourages cross generational play and sport.
